Mayor Duffy has clearly stated that we need a new way of doing business in selecting board members for MCC that is void of partisan politics. It is now time for Executive Brooks to boldly state the same thing. If she fails to do this it will be clear to all that she endorses the divisive Minarik style of politics that has damaged this community for too long.

As a registered and loyal Republican, I am appalled at the lack of concern for candidate qualifications and abilities shown by the partisan faction of the Board. Anything Duffy can do to break their hold will win my support of local Dems this fall. Brooks has shown her true colors on this one.

When caught doing something wrong it seems to be a trademark of the republican party the last few years to immediately blame the democrats for doing what they themselves are guilty of. It is obsurd for Maggie Brooks to accuse Joseph Morelle of partisan politics and of an agenda to pick the MCC president himself after trying herself to push in Bill Smith. Her role in this whole process opened up my eyes and many others (I hope) as to what her agenda is. Duffy saw through what she was trying to do and is calling her on it. I applaud him for this.

I think Mayor Duffy looks out for the best interestsof the community as a WHOLE. Many city residents start their college careers there. From a financial standpoint, that is their best shot, and they DESERVE high quality leadership.I say that as an academic myself, to put a non-academic in that kind of position, somebody without the proper credentials, is an insult to the students whose futures are in their hands, and Maggie Brooks as well as Steve Minarik, are playing politics with the lives of these students. I believe that is totally unjust.
